WAMWAO Action May 30 in Youngstown

Many of our immigrant neighbors in NE Ohio who are detained by ICE are sent to the Northeast Ohio Correctional Center (NEOCC) in Youngstown. NEOCC is a private, for-profit prison owned by Core Civic–a company that contracts with the US government to hold detainees.

Despite the policy that states clergy are allowed to visit detainees at any time by coordinating with the chaplain’s office (https://www.ice.gov/detain/detention-facilities/northeast-ohio-correctional-center), many clergy from our community have been repeatedly denied access to visit their own members in prison.
On Saturday, May 30 at 1pm, we (people of faith from Cleveland and Youngstown) will hold a peaceful demonstration outside the entrance to NEOCC to make public our demand for open clergy visitation.
Please sign up below to join the day of action, and share this opportunity with other neighbors.
(*We may gather at a nearby congregation in Youngstown around 12pm to organize ourselves beforehand. We will be in touch about those details in the coming days)
